Coffee Roaster/Barista Scout’s Coffee Bar + Mercantile High Bridge, NJ 08829 • Hybrid work
Position Overview:
This is a hybrid role, combining coffee roasting responsibilities with barista shifts. The ideal candidate is a barista with a deep interest in coffee science, sensory development, and production roasting. While prior roasting experience is a plus, we are happy to train the right person who demonstrates a strong work ethic, curiosity, and commitment to learning.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with all aspects of small-batch coffee roasting, including profiling, logging, and quality control Weigh, bag, and label roasted coffee for retail and wholesale Maintain cleanliness and safety standards in the roasting area Serve as a barista during designated shifts, maintaining exceptional customer service Collaborate with the team to ensure consistency and excellence in coffee preparation Participate in ongoing training and development
Qualifications:
1+ year of experience as a barista in a specialty coffee setting preferred Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions Interest in the technical and sensory aspects of coffee roasting Self-directed, curious, and proactive in learning new skills Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods Availability for early morning or flexible shifts preferred
