The Private Coffeebar Leader (PCL) works in a location that is typically not a standard Intelligentsia coffeebar, but rather, a location that is offering an amenity to their employees such as an office building. The PCL upholds the standards of any Intelligentsia barista, while taking on the responsibility to lead this location and be the main conduit of communication to the Manager and/or Area Manager and the client. The PCL supports the operations of the coffeebar and demonstrates outstanding hospitality skills through the execution of high-quality beverages, guest engagement, excellent product knowledge and superior barista skills. The PCL is an individual that is comfortable working autonomously or with a small team. The PCL is self-motivated and is comfortable taking initiative and leads any Private Coffeebar Baristas at that location. The PCL oversees the operations. Operation Responsibilities Support, demonstrate, and ensure proper coffeebar procedures from all staff, to include cash handling (as applicable), attendance, product standards, and all other operational best practices that apply to this private space. Adhere to all company policies and protocols, both behind the bar and at the front of house, while maintaining a clean and organized workspace so fellow team members can locate resources and products quickly Ensure that the company’s brand is properly reflected by keeping a well maintained, clean, well-organized and stocked coffeebar Uphold the company’s standards regarding merchandising, inventory and rotation of coffeebar products Placing and receiving orders for the coffeebar, including the Roasting Works and outside vendors. This may require receiving products from a delivery dock within a building. Responsible for the opening and/or closing of the coffeebar and all associated protocols If applicable, adhere to company financial policies to include: verifying the starting amount at drawers, coordinate smooth transitions with cashiers, issue refunds, voids, exchanges, reporting any overages/shortages issues to the manager immediately. If applicable, maintain accurate records and paperwork including daily sales results, inventory (daily, weekly or monthly as needed), coding invoices and cash drawer reconciliation Lead by example; submit a formal report on an infraction, when warranted, including tardiness, misconduct, out of dress code, customer complaints. Offer relevant, thoughtful ideas and suggestions for improving operations Ensure adherence to the private coffeebar’s dress code, which may vary from the standard Intelligentsia dress code, Adhere to all health and safety requirements. Maintain necessary food handler’s permit, according to state and local guidelines Drink Quality and Education Responsibilities Prepare and serve coffee and tea beverages that adhere to the company’s freshness and quality standards ensuring that they consistently reflect the company’s recipe and presentation standards Maintain coffee knowledge on current offerings and confidently and accurately communicate product information to guests Educate guests and staff on all coffee and teas carried Assist in the training and development of new staff Guest Engagement Although this is a private coffeebar, the people consuming our products are our guests/our regulars and should be treated as such. Ensure guests are warmly received and welcomed; engage the guests in a sincere and friendly manner, including greeting customers with a smile, thanking them for their patronage, and preparing drinks in an expedient manner Respond to questions, orders, and concerns with patience, confidence, and professionalism Engage guests about their drink preferences and tailor suggestions accordingly Facilitate easy dialogue with guests regarding other product offerings, including whole bean coffee, tea, complementary food offerings, merchandise, as well as any current promotions Handle all standard guests complaints/issues. If escalation is required, reach out to a coffeebar manager or area manager. Coffeebar Initiative Responsibilities Participate in coffeebar-wide profit initiatives Offer strategic input or suggestions as to how to increase coffeebar profitability Demonstrate initiative with routine tasks Education and/or Experience High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred Qualifications Service
