HHV has a national reputation for groundbreaking on-site interpretation and award-winning digital content, particularly in the content areas of Northern slavery, regional women’s history, and storytelling. HHV’s Retail Department is seeking Bar Leads. The Bar Lead contributes to the success of Historic Hudson Valley’s fall events, including The Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze event, by ensuring the visitors have positive experiences. The Bar Lead will serve beer and wine based on customer requests. Duties include verifying the identification and age of customers, preparing and serving alcoholic beverages, and accepting payment from customers. Additionally, the position requires:

Primary Responsibility:

Prepare drink orders for guests. Set up and maintain cleanliness and condition of bar, bar unit, tables, and other tools. Anticipate and communicate replenishment needs. Process all payment methods. Secure beer and wine in storage areas. Complete closing duties. Follow all company and safety and security policies. Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards, anticipate and address guests’ service needs, and thank guests with genuine appreciation. Speak with others using clear and professional language.

Primary Duties:

Serve beer and wine Verify identification and age requirements of customers Process payments from customers Record and balance cash receipts and prepare cash deposits Keep bar area clean and tidy Change and tap kegs Secure beer and wine in storage areas Complete closing duties, including storing all reusable goods, breaking down goods, cleaning all equipment and areas, returning equipment to proper locations, and locking vending trailer Anticipate and communicate replenishment needs promptly, ensuring no shortages throughout scheduled function time Follow all state and local laws for serving alcohol responsibly

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations Impeccable customer service and social perceptiveness Ability to enforce company policies regarding the consumption of alcohol Accountability in maintaining inventory and processing payments Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance
