Bagel Shop Position Overview:

The Cashier/Barista is a key member of our bagel shop team, responsible for creating a warm and welcoming environment while providing exceptional service to customers. This role includes processing transactions, preparing coffee and specialty drinks, and ensuring the front-of-house area operates smoothly and efficiently.

Key ResponsibilitiesCustomer Service:

Greet customers with a friendly attitude and assist with menu selections. Provide accurate information about menu items, including bagel flavors, spreads, and specialty drinks. Handle customer inquiries and resolve complaints professionally and efficiently.

Cashier Duties:

Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately for transactions, including cash, credit, and mobile payments. Maintain an organized and clean register area. Handle cash responsibly and perform end-of-shift reconciliation as required.

Barista Duties:

Prepare and serve a variety of coffee and espresso-based beverages following standardized recipes. Maintain a clean and organized coffee station and equipment. Monitor inventory of coffee and beverage supplies, and communicate restocking needs.

General Duties:

Restock bagels, spreads, and other products in display cases as needed. Maintain cleanliness in the dining and front-of-house areas, including tables, counters, and floors. Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure a clean and sanitary food service environment. Support team members during peak hours with additional duties such as bagging orders or preparing to-go items.

Qualifications:

Previous experience as a cashier, barista, or in food service is preferred but not required. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively. Basic math skills for handling transactions and making change. A positive attitude and enthusiasm for providing excellent customer service. Willingness to learn about coffee preparation and menu items.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for extended periods. Comfortable lifting up to 25 lbs. for stocking and inventory purposes. Ability to work morning, evening, or weekend shifts as required.
