Bartender The Spa at Norwich Inn Norwich, CT 06360

SUMMARY:

Prepare drinks, controls, and operates pub and service bar to the standard of The Spa at Norwich Inn.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides courteous guest service and responds promptly to guest questions, complaints or requests. Prepares and pours drinks as specified by the Food and Beverage Director. Maintains a friendly, pleasant, and hospitable image to the guests. Maintains a clean, attractive, and organized bar area and lounge. Greets guests as they enter the lounge. Prepares drinks as requested by cocktail and restaurant servers. Maintains proper procedures for issuing, receiving, and security of alcoholic beverages and supplies as well as the bar par. Checks guest identification for suspected minors. Issues and controls all bar checks and assigning server station. Operates the register and controls funds and charges as specified. Prepares required cashier report. Performs opening and closing duties as specified. Complies with hotel policies and procedures. Performs other duties as requested by the food and beverage management. Follows mandatory policies on the serving of alcoholic beverages. Follows hotel safety and security procedures. Assists banquet beverage department as specified and asked by food and beverage management staff

QUALIFICATIONS

To be successful in this job, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or equivalent. Practical bartending experience or completed mixology course. Completed TIPS program.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and procedure manuals; must be able to communicate effectively with guests and fellow associates. Must have good communication skills and able to communicate and write English.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Basic math skills. Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to stand up to 7 hours, be able to push, pull, tug, and lift up to 40 lbs. Physical dexterity

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Environment is a fast paced environment where customer service is a must.

AVAILABILITY

The employee must be able to work a diversified schedule that may include last minute scheduling. Shift hours will differ in length of time.
