Bartender/Event Staff Job Description General Description Summary:
Part Time Starting pay: $8.50, plus tips A Bartender/Event Staff employee is responsible for maintaining operations and assisting customers at The Strand concessions stand or bar and lounge spaces. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Ability to provide excellent guest service while working in a fast-paced environment Proper cash handling including, greet and service guests at the registers, taking orders, and accepting payments, handling cash, debit and credit cards Prepare food and beverage such as popcorn, candy, fountain sodas, beer, wine, and mixed drinks using standard formulas or following directions. Prepare bills for food, using cash registers, calculators, or adding machines; and accept payment and make change. Clean workspace and equipment, and clean dishes and fountain equipment Inventory control: Assess inventory and assist in preparing product orders as necessary Stock and restock items as necessary Ensure all sanitation procedures are followed relating to all local licensing regulations General Strand Staff Responsibilities Contributing to an inclusive work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds. Maintaining a high degree of professionalism when interacting with staff, patrons, and the general public as a representative of The Strand, during the course of business, and when on Strand property. Contributing to the overall success of The Strand by performing all other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Event Staff/Bartender Qualifications and Skills:
Must be 21 years of age or older Prior concessions and bar experience preferred including POS systems and purchasing Must utilize excellent guest service skills to enhance the theatre experience and meet the needs of patrons with a positive attitude Must be able to multitask and be self-motivated Must be able to communicate clearly and congenially with patrons about theatre events, programs, and history Possesses excellent cash handling skills and knowledge of daily sales reporting Adherence to a uniform policy and grooming standards -must present a neat, professional appearance Qualified candidate will be a mature, responsible, dependable individual who enjoys working in a fast paced environment Must satisfactorily fulfill all departmental training requirements Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to walk, stand, stoop, and occasionally carry heavy items in a fast-paced environment. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes nights, weekends, holidays and special events Ability to provide a high standard of service, hospitality, and professionalism
Education, Experience, & Licensing Requirements:
Valid driver’s license Prepared to submit to a background check Strand Employee Policy (partial) Any direct or indirect harassing, intimidating, abusive or threatening language, actions or behavior are prohibited and will not be tolerated of any employee on Strand premises or while on Strand business Violations of Strand harassment policy or any other form of unlawful or unethical conduct, harassment or discrimination are subject to disciplinary action including termination. If an employee holds another job, The Strand should be considered the primary employer and has no objection as long as he or she can effectively meet the performance standards for his or her position with The Strand. All employees will be held to the same scheduling demands and standards of performance required for the position regardless of outside employment. Staff should assume there are guests in the theatre at all times and maintain an appropriate demeanor. Staff should not eat, smoke, or chew gum in the presence of customers or in any public area of the theatre. Staff should maintain the highest standards relating to personal hygiene. Staff should escort guests, rather than pointing out directions to another area of the theatre, when possible. All public facing employees should be smart and professional in business dress. Examples of unacceptable dress include jeans, sneakers, open toed shoes, tshirts, hats, shorts, sweatshirts, wrinkled or faded clothing, overly revealing or offensive attire, clothing with holes, tears, or stains. Maintaining order and cleanliness of workspaces is the responsibility of every employee.
