JOB SUMMMARY
As a member of our Food and Beverage Team, your role is ensure that guests have an enjoyable and memorable experience by providing excellent customer service as well as responsibly serving both alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages, creating cocktails following recipes, understanding menu items and food preparation to answer questions, serving and clearing food and drinks, and processing and collecting payment. This position works closely with the Inn’s Management Team, Kitchen Staff, and Wait staff to deliver our guests a dining experience which will exceed their expectations.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Professional appearance with a properly cleaned uniform. Set up bar according to standards Fully stock bar before end of each shift including but not limited to Liquor, Beer, Wine, Juices, Soda and garnishes Keep bar and bar area clean, organized and sanitized Close bar at end of shift according to property standards Assist with keeping track of liquor, beer, wine and other supplies by telling the proper supervisor as the inventory gets low Be prepared to answer questions about beverage service and beverage menu, including liquors, beers, wines, and non-alcoholic choices. Recognize opportunities to up-sell where appropriate. Understand federal, state, and local laws regarding service of alcoholic beverages. Efficiently mix, prepare and serve all beverages to guests according to recipe standards while avoiding over pouring and spillage. Manage the inventory, ordering and relationships with distributors Work with the management team to update and maintain an accurate menu both printed and in our point of sale system (Lightspeed) Understand up selling and different price points for products Serve food and beverages in all food service areas Participate in set up, execution, and clean up of banquet functions as outlined in Banquet Event Orders and as directed by Management Effectively communicate guest orders and requests using POS Deliver food and beverages to guests as efficiently as possible following correct table service techniques. Deliver beverages in an efficient manner following appropriate beverage service techniques. Ensure that drinks are presented to guests as ordered and according to restaurant quality standards. Clear tables in an efficient manner using appropriate table service techniques. Work with food and beverage team to ensure that guest’s needs are continually met throughout service Help to educate other members of the food and beverage team on beverages available and service techniques Be available to all guests to assist with any needs, corrections or additional items desired during service. Continue selling items throughout their stay. Prepare and present customer bills. Understand all payments accepted, how to process them, and how to make change when applicable. Understand reporting requirements for tips and tip out procedure. Ability to safely operate restaurant equipment including, but not limited to knives, refrigerators, soup warmers, ice machines and other basic kitchen equipment and appliances, etc. Handle and communicate to the kitchen and manager about special orders and guest complaints in a professional manner.. Maintain bar service area cleanliness as well as personal cleanliness and sanitation standards as well as general maintenance and upkeep of the food service areas. Understanding of common food allergies and food allergy protocol. Must be able to manually handle, lift and carry product up to 60 pounds. Must have bilateral fine manipulation of both hands which may be repetitive for entire shift. Must be vertically mobile working in limited space for entire shift. Protect assets of Emerson Inn Seaside Resort Communicate effectively to guests about the status of their orders and menu changes. Check customers’ IDs to ensure they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Must be eligible to work in the United States of America. Previous food & beverage service work preferred, but not required. Basic math skills Excellent customer service skills Organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to perform under pressure Active listening and effective communication skills Team spirit Flexibility to work in shifts up to and including mornings, nights and weekends Ability to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods Must be 18 years or older TIPS or Servsafe Certified
ABILITIES REQUIRED
Frequent walking, bending, reaching, pushing, lifting, manual dexterity and repetitive motions. May require the ability to work on uneven outdoor surfaces. Stair climbing. Working in variable temperatures and conditions both indoors and out. Frequent hand-washing. Hazards include, but are not limited to cuts for knives and wine openers, burns, slips, and tripping.
