Total compensation is dependent on business levels.•To consistently achieve the service and product delivery standards with a high degree of client care and service throughout the banqueting event experience and to provide an exceptional and memorable guest experience. The banquet server/bartender will serve the guest’s needs by providing exceptional knowledge of food & beverage menu items, wine and beverage options, as well as cocktail and beverage preparation techniques. They also assist in set-up of linen, china, glass, silver, and buffets/ food displays for each function in accordance with The Umstead Hotel standards. Report to work at the scheduled time, neatly groomed and in a clean uniform. Participates in the service and removal of food during banquet functions by offering pre-determined menu selections to each table; maintaining knowledge of each selection’s, origin, taste, and preparation method; communicating guest orders including any special needs or requests to the kitchen; checking completed kitchen orders with the guest’s original order; transporting items to the guest table in a timely manner to ensure proper food quality and making self available to guests, clients, and group contacts to ensure satisfaction. Setting up, maintaining, inventorying and breaking down all beverage breaks and food buffets/ food displays Setting up of linen, china, glass, silver, for each function according to the banquet event order. Exceptional knowledge of all products/ liquors/ wine/ beverages available on banquet bars. Exceptional knowledge of cocktail mixology and preparation techniques. Thorough knowledge of setting up, maintaining, inventorying and breaking down all bar stations for each function according to the banquet event order and The Umstead Hotel standards. Thorough knowledge of all North Carolina state liquor laws and procedures. Anticipate guest needs, ascertain satisfaction, and respond urgently and appropriately to guest concerns and requests. Being able to consistently perform tasks within a given time frame to ensure all event components are setup on time. Being able to consistently perform tasks with little direct supervision. Manager Education:
High school or equivalent education required
Experience:
1-2 years banquet or restaurant server in an upscale hotel, restaurant or country club. Previous four- or five-star hotel banquet server experience preferred.
Licenses or Certificates:
Ability to obtain and/or maintain any government required licenses, certificates or permits.
