Full Job Description Job Overview:

Sojourn Philly is a hospitality group of three restaurants: Jet Wine Bar, Rex at The Royal, and Sor Ynez. Sojourn Philly has been operating restaurants in Philly since 2010. Our mission is to create welcoming environments that serve delicious food and drinks while being a caring and responsible neighborhood Partner. We are looking to hire a full-time Bartender to join us at Sor Ynez. Sor Ynéz is, at heart and soul, a Mexican restaurant with a scratch kitchen and bar rooted in the celebration of sustainability, tradition and community. We grind our masa fresh to use in most dishes, and also offer it for sale so that you can experience the taste of Mexico in your kitchen! The full-time bartender is the face of the bar program and considered our house expert on agave spirits; they should be enthusiastic and knowledgeable conversing about tequila and mezcal. Ideal candidates are invested in the success of the FOH team as a whole and are prepared to offer hands / support beyond the bar when it benefits service. They have a love for Mexican food, beverage, and culture that transcends their position behind the bar. Both fine dining and neighborhood restaurant experience is preferred, as we embrace both. Willingness to learn and memorize details of seasonal menus is required for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

Take drink orders from guests and servers Make drinks according to standards or as specified by guests at high volume Keep up with bar produce and pars as needed Complete all running, opening, and closing side work. Has complete knowledge of general beer, cocktail, and liquor information Welcoming customers, reading and listening to people to determine beverage preferences, making recommendations, and taking drink orders. Planning drink menus and informing customers about new beverages and specials. Selecting and mixing ingredients, garnishing glasses, and serving beverages to customers. Checking identification to ensure customers are the legal age to purchase alcohol. Adhering to all food safety and quality regulations. Handling cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensuring charges are accurate and returning correct change to patrons, balancing the cash register. Maintaining a clean work and dining area by removing trash, cleaning tables, and washing glasses, utensils, and equipment. Developing new cocktail recipes. Build a rapport with regular customers to create a positive atmosphere • To qualify for this position you must have flexible availability and strong communication skills.
