POSITION PURPOSE

As a Starter you will ensure to provide our members and guests with pre round assistance that promotes a truly memorable start to the golf round. You will ensure that each golf guest is fully aware of key on course information and club expectations throughout the round. Items include bathroom locations, pace of play, hole location, course conditions, F and B options, historical fun facts, on course ranger support. You will responsible for helping control the exact starting time for each group and maintaining proper starting intervals between pace of play on the golf course by directing players to the first tee in a timely and orderly fashion. Responsibilities also include informing golfers of the expected pace of play, the rules of the course, conditions, cart rules, on-course safety and etiquette, the expected duration of playing time, and familiarizing the guest with the resort.

FUNCTIONS

Display a professional appearance and attitude, and remain courteous to guests at all times. Provide a warm welcome to golf guests who are arriving at the 1st tee. Know and execute proper starter technical points and procedures

Greet and welcome all members and guests. Provide information regarding golf course conditions, cart rules, hole location, bathroom location, recommended tees, emergency call number, local rules, expected playing time, golf course safety and emergency procedures, golf course etiquette, and other related issues. Verify that all revenues have been recorded by inspecting receipts for all players. Ensure that all guests and members play the course assigned by the starter ticket. Coordinate and approve course changes with the golf professional in the golf shop. Assist players as necessary including ensuring that golf bags are securely placed in carts and distributing scorecards, pencils, survey cards, and local rules of play. Assist golf shop staff in accommodating requests as appropriate. Spot check sand bottles and GPS system to ensure they are filled and in working order. Record golf car numbers, and assist the outside service staff in the assignment and control of golf cars. Review and maintain time sheets to anticipate playing time problems. Monitor turn time and keep the golf shop staff and golf course player assistants informed regarding potential speed of play issues. AM Starter to provide PM starter with key information to support the transition. Key information would include challenging groups, clarification on groups, turn times, delays, weather, thorguard system update, VIP groups, confirm cart path rule/hole location, course conditions, supplies check. Maintain clean and orderly appearance of starter’s area at all times.

Surrounding areas include:

1st tee box, inside starter booth, windows on starter booth, surrounding plants/landscape, and putting green. Maintain knowledge of emergency procedures, location of emergency equipment, and reporting procedures. Provide emergency assistance to golfers and other guests as necessary according to company procedures. Build rapport with golf guests and resort guests when time permits by inquiring about their stay and informing them of the resort’s history, activities, and offerings. Contact necessary departments via radio with any guest concerns or challenges to ensure immediate guest recovery and problem resolution. Provide directions to the first tee of other courses, driving range, putting greens, Rick Smith School, Spa, restaurants, meeting rooms. Each associate is expected to carry out all reasonable requests by management which the associate is capable of performing.

OTHER:

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by Trump National Doral Miami from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Associates with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Due to the industry, that we are in a need will occur for each associate to provide “Lateral Service”. Our goal is to ensure that we are maximizing customer satisfaction and as a result there will be times when our associates in the Operation will call upon us for support in order to ensure customer satisfaction occurs. When we are fortunate enough for this to occur, each associate will positively respond unless there is a chance that an opportunity resulting in dissatisfying a guest could occur. If this is the case the leader is to be notified and the level of support that is being requested will be obtained.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the company.

Associates will be trained in the proper use and care of any assigned PPE.
