In addition, clear jams throughout the system and look for lost or damaged items. Baggage Handlers/jammers utilize graphic displays on a monitor to locate baggage jams, overloads and any issues that may be a hindrance to the operation. This helps to efficiently resolve problems and maintain customer relations when luggage is late, lost, and or damaged. The Baggage Handler is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, cleaning/maintenance chemicals, cold and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Employees may work on an airport ramp around airline vehicles and heavy equipment.
Position Requirements:
High School Diploma. Valid Driver’s License. Able to communicate in English fluently. Able to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays. Must be able to frequently and steadily lift baggage at 90 pounds or above. Must be comfortable and capable of working safely around industrial equipment. Ability to be badged to work in secure areas of an airport. Must have reliable transportation.
