Position Title Assistant/Associate or Full Professor — Large Animal Practice (Food Animal emphasis)
Job Summary Clinical Track or Tenure Track faculty position in Large Animal Practice with Food Animal emphasis. The successful applicant must have a commitment to the University’s tri-partite mission of teaching, research, and service. This position requires participation in classroom, clinical and laboratory instruction of veterinary students, graduate students, interns, and graduate veterinarians. The successful applicant must demonstrate creative scholarship and collaborative research activities in large animal practice and develop innovative teaching and service programs. Participation in providing large animal services to clients and the Large Animal Teaching Hospital are required. Clinical services also include ambulatory/field services and participation in after-hours emergency duty. The successful applicant must develop strong professional relationships with referring veterinarians and participate in state and national outreach and continuing education. Participation on college and university committees is expected. The successful applicant must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, and work collaboratively with others (faculty, staff, students) in a collegial and diverse team environment.
Essential Job Duties Classroom, clinical and laboratory instruction of veterinary students, graduate students, interns, and graduate
veterinarians.
Creative scholarship in Large Animal/Food Animal Practice.
Develop innovative teaching and service programs.
Provide client services, including Large Animal/Food Animal Practice.
After-hours/on-call emergency duty.
Development of strong professional relationships with referring veterinarians.
Participation in state and national outreach and continuing education.
Participation on college and university committees.
Preferred Qualifications DVM or equivalent degree.
Board-certification or board eligible in a Large Animal-related discipline.
If a candidate is not board-certified or board eligible, three to four years of postgraduate clinical experience, including a large animal rotating internship and/or clinical instructor experience in an academic setting, will be given consideration.
Clinical experience in medical and surgical management in various large animal species is preferred
Physical Demands Ability to operate standard office equipment
Ability to walk short distances
Ability to lift and carry parcels, packages and other items
Ability to view a computer terminal
