Description Position Summary:
Nutrition Utility Worker performs food service delivery andsanitation work within a hospital setting. Work involves assistanceto cooks, dieticians and other personnel in performing a variety ofpatient, cafeteria and catering food preparation, service andsanitation duties. Employees in this classification are required toobserve established sanitary standards in the housekeeping of thework area in the cleaning of related equipment utensils and inpersonal hygiene. Work is performed under the general supervisionof cooks, dieticians or other supervisory personnel who inspectwork in progress and review results obtained.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Delivers and picks up food carts at designated times. Maintainswork area in a clean, neat and orderly manner. Washes all pots,pans, trays, utensils and other materials used for preparation andservice. Delivers and stores food and supplies in various areas.
Performs cleaning and mopping (floors, walls, vents, refrigerators,ovens, etc.). Cleans and sanitizes movable equipment (carts,rolling racks). Disposes of trash, boxes, and garbage as needed.
Performs the duties of nutrition worker as needed. Responds andcooperate with changes in workload Knowledgeable of, observes andcomplies with the Jackson Health System policies and procedures aswell as with the Food and Nutrition Services policies andprocedures. Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CAREvalues (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise).Performs all other related job duties as assigned.
Qualifications Experience:
Generally requires 0 to 3 years of related experience.
Education:
High School diploma is strongly preferred.
License Certification:
Valid license or certification is required as needed, based on thejob or specialty.
Knowledge Skill Abilities:
Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately whilemeeting multiple deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively inboth oral and written form. Ability to handle difficult andstressful situations with critical thinking and professionalcomposure. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Abilityto exercise sound and independent judgment. Knowledge and skill inuse of job appropriate technology and software applications.
Physical Demands:
Job functions requires extended walking or standing. Must be ableto climb stairs/ladder, stoop, bend, crawl and perform repetitivemotions as needed. Must be able to carry objects weighing 21 to 50pounds. Must be able to lift , push or pull objects weighing 51 to100 pounds with the use of appropriate devices. Function requiresvisual acuity to perform job related activities such as: operatingmachines or motor vehicles and performing mechanical or skilledtrades tasks of a repetitive and non-repetitive nature.
