The Student Cashier is responsible for providing friendly and efficient service while processing customer transactions at various dining locations on campus. The ideal candidate will be dependable, customer-focused, and comfortable using a point-of-sale (POS) system in a fast-paced environment. Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period. Responsibilities
Greet customers warmly and provide outstanding customer service Accurately operate the point-of-sale system to process purchases, refunds, and other transactions Maintain cleanliness and organization at the cashier station and surrounding areas Handle cash, credit/debit card, and meal plan transactions in a secure and accurate manner Assist with customer inquiries and resolve basic service issues Restock necessary items at the front counter and maintain a neat workspace Follow all university and dining services policies regarding cash handling and food safety Communicate with team members and supervisors regarding customer feedback or issues Assist with cleaning duties and opening/closing procedures as needed Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors Shift Specifics Minimum 15 hours, up to 25 hours per week
Flexible with schedule of availability
Available Shifts:
Monday – Friday 9: 00 AM – 4:00 PM
Required Qualifications Educational Requirements Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.
Preferred Qualifications Preferred Experience Previous experience as a cashier or in a customer service role is a plus
Familiarity with POS systems or food service operations
Proposed Salary $10.00 per hour This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis. Required Documents to Attach
