About the
Role:
We’re seeking a Culinary Assistant to join our culinary team, supporting our café, catering kitchen, and offsite events. This role is ideal for someone who loves variety, thrives in fast-paced environments, and is looking to grow into a full-time Shift Lead or Management role. This is a hands-on position that includes line cooking, catering prep and execution, working at pop-up events, and catering deliveries . You’ll gain experience across multiple areas of the business, working both independently and alongside a small, collaborative team. Key ResponsibilitiesFood Prep, Line Cooking & Catering Operations Prepare food for the café, catering orders, and offsite events using Mei Mei recipes and presentation standards. Cook to order on grill and fryer stations with precision and speed. Assist with high-volume prep for catering, including large-batch production, packing, and transport. Deliver, set up, and serve food at onsite and offsite events and pop-ups. Maintain cleanliness across kitchen workspaces and follow all food safety protocols. Logistics & Coordination Help organize catering prep schedules and packing lists to ensure timely and complete execution. Track catering equipment, packaging, and disposables; report needs to management. Support delivery logistics and vehicle readiness for offsite catering jobs. Guest & Client Experience Represent the Mei Mei brand at events with professionalism and warmth. Act as point-of-contact for smaller catering events, assisting with setup and guest needs. Process Support & Improvements Document event notes, delivery issues, or guest feedback for the culinary team. Contribute ideas to improve workflows, guest experience, and catering execution. About You You hold yourself to a high standard and are always looking for ways to improve. You’re comfortable switching between prep, line cooking, and guest-facing service. You thrive in high-volume, time-sensitive environments and stay organized under pressure. You take initiative, communicate clearly, and follow through on tasks. You enjoy both working independently and collaborating with a team. You’re looking for a role where you can grow and take on more responsibility over time. Required Qualifications At least 3 years of experience in a food service setting (restaurant, café, or catering). Strong experience on the line or in catering prep. Valid driver’s license. Ability to stand for 8-10 hours and safely lift 40 lbs. Preferred Qualifications Experience with large volume food production (catering, restaurant, events) ServSafe and/or Allergen Awareness Certification. TIPS certification. Experience in FOH customer-facing roles. Background in catering kitchen or offsite event execution .
Compensation & Schedule Pay :
$18
- 21/hour depending on experience + tips (averaging $3
- 4/hour)
Schedule :
Part-time (less than 30 hours/week), 3-4 shifts per week scheduled Tuesday
- Sunday.
Nights and weekend availability required.

Paid Time Off:
Hourly employees receive accrued PTO days (up to 208 hours/ 26 days for employees working 40 hours per week), and accrued sick time (capped at 40 hours/5 days per calendar year).
Part-Time Benefits:
