This position is located at the Renaissance Hotel in Asheville, NC Purpose for the
Position:
To perform a combination of duties in an efficient, quiet and effective manner which facilities food service and thereby provides a positive impression for the guest.
Essential Responsibilities:
Carries dirty dishes from dining room to kitchen. Replaces soiled table linen and sets tables with silverware and glassware. Replenishes supply of clean linens, silverware, glassware and dishes in dining rooms. Supplies service bar with food, such as soups, salads and desserts. Serves ice water and butter to patrons. Cleans and polishes glass shelves and doors of service bars and equipment such as coffee urns and cream and milk dispenser. May run errands and deliver food orders to offices. May transfer food and dishes between floors of establishments using dumbwaiter. Communicate with supervisor throughout shift to be aware of the work. Ensures the proper handling of all equipment and supplies. Required to be always in uniform when working on the property including wearing name identification badge. Supports and adheres to the core values, the mission statement, service fundamentals, and guest service philosophy as defined by the company. All other duties as assigned by a manager or supervisor.
Skills and Abilities:
Always maintain a professional appearance and manner. Do the same task over and over, frequently following a simple routine. Ability to perform repetitive motions; lift, bend, stoop, walk, push, or pull heavy equipment, and stand for extended periods of time. Must be willing to “pitch-in” and help co-workers with their job duties and be a team player. Ability to comprehend and follow instructions from supervisor.
Physical Demands:
Medium work. Exerting up to 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally. Requires walking or standing to a significant degree, and or requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible. Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Requirements High school completion or an equivalent level of education and experience. Must thrive in a multi-tasking, fast paced working environment. Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations, and etiquette. Knowledge of the appropriate table settings and service ware.
