Durham, NC Job Description:
The line server position is responsible for setting up food stations, placing controlled portions of food on plates, removing food from food stations, and keeping all areas of the cafeteria clean.
Basic Job Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
Less than a high school education.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous Line Server Experience.
Other:
Must have the ability to perform basic math calculations such as add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Must be able to follow and understand both written and oral instructions to ensure guidelines and procedures are followed. Must be able to communicate with others. Must be able to follow food safety practice. Must be able to adapt to various positions on the line as assigned. Knowledge of and experience in practicing safety standards in handling food and equipment is preferred.
Position Requirements:
Physical:
Physical demand level is moderate. with 30 pounds of lifting on a regular basis with intermittent bending, stooping, pushing and pulling. Must be able to stand for at least 8 hours a day on concrete flooring.
Mental:
Works with close supervision. Encounter periods of concentration with attention to detail. Uses discretion and maintains confidentiality concerning employees, clients, customers, vendors, and other company business.
Position Relationships:
The Line Worker is directly supervised by the Production Supervisor and may also receive instructions from the line Lead. This position has no responsibilities in management or personnel supervision.
Environmental Responsibilities:
Environmental is in frozen food manufacturing plant. Works most workdays indoors; however, sudden and extreme changes in temperature may occur. The typical temperature indoors most days in around 45 degrees. Must be able to work flexible hours. Essential Functions / Standards of performance: Assist with the start-up of the production line Collect and maintain supplies needed for task Place trays in correct position to drop on tray line Place appropriate portion of food in the correct location on tray as it is moving down the line Inspect meals regularly to see the food portions are falling into the correct tray slot Inspects regularly to see packaged food items are placed correctly within a box or package Observe plastic film being properly sealed on trays after coming under heated rolls Remove completed meals/trays at the end of the line and place in correct storage box or basket Collect and dispose of trash in proper designated areas as needed Notifies line leader of debris/food so it can be removed from floor on a continuous basis Assist in cleaning any equipment during meal change or at end of the shift Follow all safety policies and procedures Wear appropriate safety equipment as required by departmental regulations Notify line leader or supervisor on a timely basis of problems Maintain workplace professionalism
