Summary The Food Service Assistant is hired to work 29 hours per week on a part-time basis. The Food Service Assistant is responsible for assisting the Food Service Manager of Dove’s Nest in all operations related to food and food safety for the Charlotte Rescue Mission. Duties include, but are not limited to, preparation, serving meals, vending, donations, purchasing, inventory, receiving, storage, equipment, USDA commodities and supervision of residents and volunteers in the food service area. The work shift may end at 6:00pm. Some weekends may be required during peak operational seasons.

Starting range of pay:

$19 – $19.50 per hour. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Food preparation processes, following food safety and nutrition guidelines. May assist with training residents & volunteers for meal preparation, serving & cleaning. Assist in maintaining sanitation and cleaning guidelines. Assist with overseeing food donations, deliveries, and pick-ups. Monitor Paper & Chemical Inventory & USDA Inventory. Other duties as needed and assigned by the Food Service Manager or Program Director. Must be available to work Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. Must be able to drive. Qualifications The ideal candidate will have the following: ServSafe certification (preferred), Valid Driver’s License (required), High School Diploma or equivalent.

Inventory Control Pest Control Fire Safety Nutritional Guidelines Skills:

Cooking for 100+ People. Ability to work with a team. Ability to work with volunteers. Knowledge of and ability to use a computer, Microsoft Office experience preferred. Excellent organizational skills. Good written and oral communication. Ability to multi-task efficiently. Ability to get along with people and maintain a positive attitude

Ability:

Tolerate cold storage. Must be able to spend the majority of time walking, standing, climbing stairs. Must be able to lift 35-75 pounds.
