Job Description Main Responsibilities:

Under the direction and supervision of a Food Service Supervisor/ Management, performs all duties as assigned.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Check work assignment
• Obtains stock from refrigerators and storerooms, loads and unloads stock and dispatches and stores supplies
• Follows “First in-First Out” (FIFO) methods for stocking
• Make recommendations for replenishment of stocks
• Obtains stock from refrigerators and storerooms, loads and unloads stock, and dispatches and stores supplies.
• Labels food items, using dates and names of products
• Removes food from non-functioning refrigerators
• Prepares and/or pre-portions food items for tray line service in accordance with menu.
• Operates all kitchen equipment in a safe manner
• Assembles prepared food on trays for patients on regular and modified diets according to menu or special diet lists and adhering to proper portion control.
• Loads and delivers meal trays via cart to distribute to patients and collects soiled trays for return to kitchen area for cleaning.
• Participates in Morning huddles and food service operation of cafeteria or dining room area.
• Assists in cooking operations and prepares resident/patients between meal nourishments and cold foods (salads, sandwiches, desserts etc.)
• Checks accuracy of patients’ tray by ensuring all items on tray ticket are present.
• Uses two patient identifiers and patient scripting when passing trays or food to patients
• Follows infection control guidelines for hand sanitizing and tray delivery/retrieval.
• Delivers nourishments, enteral feeding and late trays.
• Works in dish room stripping trays, scraping, loading and racking service ware and storing clean service ware appropriately
• Cleans kitchen and dining area. Washes, sanitizes and or sterilized dishes, working areas/surfaces, utensils and equipment.
• Operates dish machine in safe manner
• Operates self-service elevator or other necessary equipment to facilitate performance of duties including but not limited to deliver food trucks to and from patient wards and other deliveries as instructed
• Answers phones in a professional manner
• Participates in departmental and hospital in-services
• Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required or instructed by Supervisor or Manager Minimum Qualifications Ability to read and write English and to understand and carry out simple instructions.
