Temporary Job Summary MMG is seeking Nutrition Services Temporary Operators to support the Charleston County School District (CCSD) Nutrition and Food Services Department. This role involves preparing and serving meals to students, processing meal transactions, and maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen environment. The ideal candidate will be dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to providing quality food service in a school setting. Key Responsibilities Food Preparation & Meal Service Prepare and serve meals following USDA standardized recipes and portioning guidelines. Ensure proper quantities of food are prepared and served based on meal counts. Record all food usage and interpret production schedules. Point of Sale & Cash Handling Collect meal payments and accurately handle cash transactions. Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system for student meal purchases. Food Safety & Compliance Monitor meal pattern requirements and meal count procedures. Follow food safety regulations and proper sanitation practices at all times. Properly use and store chemicals in the kitchen and dishwashing areas. Maintain knowledge of kitchen equipment operation and maintenance. Cleaning & Maintenance Maintain clean and sanitary work areas, including dishwashing areas, sinks, stoves, ovens, and kitchen utensils. Clean tables, serving counters, and kitchen floors. Operate dishwashers, power wash sinks, and pot sinks as needed. Other Duties Follow assigned work schedules and cleaning schedules. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Nutrition Services Manager or Assistant Manager. Qualifications & Requirements Prior experience in food service, cafeteria operations, or a similar role preferred. Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and safety regulations. Ability to handle cash and operate a point-of-sale system. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions. Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform kitchen duties. Must be reliable, dependable, self-motivated and work well in a school environment. Selected candidates must provide proof of a negative TB test prior to starting work. Work Conditions Fast-paced school cafeteria/kitchen environment. Requires standing, bending, and lifting throughout the shift. Exposure to hot surfaces, cleaning chemicals, and food preparation areas.
