Performs duties relating to the cutting, preparation, display, andselling of meat products. All Whole Foods Market Retail jobsrequire ensuring a positive company image by providing courteous,friendly, and efficient service to customers and Team Members atall times. All positions must be performed in accordance with teamand store Standard Operating Procedures. Further, Team Members mustbe prepared and able to perform the duties inherent in other TeamMember job descriptions. All positions must strive to support WFMcore values and goals, promote national, regional, and storeprograms and initiatives, and ensure adherence to all applicablehealth and safety regulations including Food Safety and regulatoryduties required in the department. Job Responsibilities Cuts, platters, and merchandises products (beef, pork, lamb,veal, poultry). Prepares specialty meat merchandise (i.e. sausage, oven readyproducts, and cured meats). Checks product to make sure it meets WFM qualitystandards. Maintains sampling program. Monitors and assists in preventing spoilage. Mentors and supports assigned Meat Cutter Trainee(s). Arrives to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressedand ready to work; works all scheduled shifts and attends requiredtrainings and meetings. Provides excellent customer service, addresses needs ofcustomers in a timely and effective manner and models suggestiveselling techniques; answers phones and pages promptly andcourteously. Maximizes sales potential through effective and properprocedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, andmerchandising product. Follows and complies, or ensures compliance, with establishedprocedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation,and safe work practices. Maintains, or ensures maintenance of, a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment; maintains equipment in accordancewith WFM cleanliness and safety standards. Performs opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned; ensuresaccuracy of signs and pricing. Immediately reports safety hazards and violations. Performs other duties as assigned by store, regional, ornational leadership. Job Skills Working understanding of Meat team processes andprocedures. Excellent cutting skills with the ability to bread product downinto sub-primal and retail cuts. Extensive knowledge of different cuts and cooking techniques ofmeat and seafood. Ability to visually examine products for quality andfreshness. Capable of accessing information about market conditions andcommunicating this information to customers. Strong to excellent communication skills and willingness towork as part of a team. Ability to deliver information in a clear and respectablemanner to fellow Team Members , customers , and vendors . Ability to meet customer service expectations and standards inall interactions with customers, vendors, and Team Members. Ability to f ollow directions and procedures; effective timemanagement and organization skills. Passion for natural foods and the mission of Whole FoodsMarket. Strong work ethic and a bility to work in a fast-pacedenvironment with a sense of urgency. Understanding of and compliance with WFM quality goals.

Experience 14+ months retail experience. Successfully completed WFM Butcher Apprentice Program, or anequivalent training program. UK Exceptions may apply Physical Requirements/Working Conditions Must be able to lift 5 0 pounds. In an 8-hour work day: standing/walking 6-8 hours.

Hand use:

single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing andpulling.

Work requires the following motions:

bending, twisting,squatting and reaching. Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals.

Exposure to temperatures:

90 degrees Fahrenheit. Ability to work in a wet and cold environment . Ability to handle knives and other cutting equipment. Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends,and holidays as needed . Ability to use tools and equipment, including box cutters,electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery .
