Job Description This job requires the ability to work Sundays on a weekly, regular basis. Additional hours each week are flexible. As a butcher, you will be responsible for duties relating to the cutting, preparing and selling of meat products. Job Qualifications Must be able to work Sundays on a weekly, regular basis. Ability to multitask & work efficiently while providing kind and friendly customer service. Meticulous attention to detail and cleanliness. Ability to deliver information in a clear and respectable manner to colleagues, customers, and vendors. Passion for work and learning. Excellent cutting skills with the ability to break products down into sub-primal and retail cuts. Knowledge of different cuts and cooking techniques of meat and seafood. Ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness. Must be available to work around major holidays including the week leading up to Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter (the store is closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day and Easter Day). Job Responsibilities Cut, platter, and merchandise products (beef, pork, lamb, veal, poultry and fish). Prepare specialty meat merchandise (i.e. sausage, oven ready products, and cured meats). Knowledge of established procedures including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices. Follow proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising products. Provide excellent customer service, address needs of customers in a timely and effective manner. Monitor and assist in preventing spoilage. Maintain accuracy of signs and pricing. Ability to engage in suggestive selling techniques. Answer phone promptly and courteously. Perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned. Immediately report safety hazards and violations. Perform other duties as assigned by managers as required. Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays as needed. Work all scheduled shifts and attend required meetings as needed. Physical Requirements Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. In an 8-hour work day: standing/walking 6-8 hours. Ability to walk up and down stairs several times a day.

Work requires the following motions:

single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling, bending, twisting, squatting and reaching. Ability to handle knives and other cutting equipment. Ability to use tools and equipment, including box cutters, bandsaw, and meat grinder. Exposure OK to FDA approved cleaning chemicals. Exposure OK to temperatures less than 32 degrees fahrenheit (freezing). Ability to arrive at work on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work. Pay Range Between $18 – $25 per hour, dependent on previous experience. Hours This position is part time (20 hours per week) with full time hours (40 hours per week) possible for the right candidate. Mandatory hours include 9:30 – 6:00 Sundays with flexibility around additional hours each week.
