The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in Japanese culinary traditions, with a particular focus on Omakase-style sushi. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for crafting exquisite, seasonal sushi offerings, upholding the highest standards of food safety, and contributing to the development of our ever-evolving menu. This position demands a meticulous attention to detail, creativity, and a passion for delivering an unparalleled dining experience.
- Key Responsibilities
- Skillfully prepare and present a variety of sushi dishes, adhering to the meticulous standards of Japanese Omakase.
- Maintain strict compliance with food safety regulations and best practices in all aspects of food preparation and service.
- Collaborate with the executive chef and culinary team to design seasonal menus that highlight premium ingredients and reflect guest preferences.
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, with proper storage and handling of all ingredients to maintain freshness and quality.
- Oversee inventory management for sushi-specific ingredients, making recommendations for supply ordering as needed.
- Mentor and guide junior kitchen staff in sushi preparation, food safety, and professional kitchen practices.
- Interact with guests, when appropriate, to share knowledge of the menu and enhance their dining experience through insightful conversation and personalized service.
- Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef, particularly in a high-end, counter-service environment.
- Deep understanding of traditional Japanese culinary techniques, with an emphasis on sushi preparation and presentation.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and the ability to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment.
- Exceptional knife skills and an eye for detail in both the preparation and presentation of sushi.
