About the Role We’re looking for a Lead Meal Prep Chef to join our tight-knit kitchen crew. In this hands-on role, you’ll take the lead on cooking sauces and entrées, then portioning and packaging meals with help from one assistant. You’ll be the go-to in the kitchen, helping us execute our weekly menus with consistency, creativity, and heart. This role is perfect for someone who loves the craft of cooking, enjoys being part of a small team, and is excited about the possibility of growing their role through community-facing opportunities like working our farmers market booth or teaching occasional cooking classes. Your Key Responsibilities Prepare sauces, entrées, and side dishes according to weekly rotating menus Portion and package meal kits with quality and efficiency in mind Oversee day-to-day kitchen operations and support a small assistant team Maintain ingredient inventory and notify of shortages or reorder needs Keep kitchen spaces clean, organized, and aligned with food safety standards Communicate clearly with the owner about prep needs, systems, and new ideas Collaborate on improving systems to streamline kitchen workflow
Optional:
Assist with customer engagement at farmers markets or help lead cooking workshops Who You Are A dependable, organized cook with strong prep and line experience Someone who values teamwork, takes initiative, and loves a good challenge Passionate about good food and making a difference in your community Comfortable leading a small kitchen team and taking ownership of daily tasks Flexible, upbeat, and communicative—our kitchen is collaborative and positive Qualifications 2+ years of kitchen experience (meal prep or batch cooking a plus) Solid knife skills and understanding of kitchen flow Experience following and scaling recipes Food safety knowledge and commitment to cleanliness Ability to lift 50 lbs and be on your feet during your shift
