As a Sous Chef, you will work closely with James Beard nominated Chef Steve Phelps to oversee kitchen operations, manage staff, and ensure that all food preparation meets our standards for quality and presentation. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to contribute to a dynamic team. Duties Assist the Head Chef in menu planning and recipe development. Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient operations. Manage daily kitchen activities, including food preparation and cooking. Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards. Train new kitchen staff on proper food handling techniques and restaurant protocols. Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed. Collaborate with the culinary team to create innovative dishes that align with restaurant goals. Handle customer inquiries or complaints regarding food quality or service. Skills Proficient in food handling practices and safety regulations. Experience in restaurant management, with a focus on team dynamics. Strong leadership skills, capable of motivating and guiding kitchen staff. Effective shift management abilities to ensure smooth operations during busy periods. Knowledge of dietary department practices is a plus. Background in culinary arts or related field preferred.
