Camp Schodack is seeking an experienced and dynamic Head Chef to lead our kitchen team in delivering high-quality, nutritious, and kid-friendly meals for approximately 500 campers and staff daily. The ideal candidate will be a leader with culinary and organizational skills, capable of running a high-volume kitchen while maintaining safety, efficiency, and a positive working environment. The Head Chef will work closely with one other Chef, Kitchen Staff, and the Kitchen Manager to execute a pre-planned menu, ensuring consistent quality.

Key Responsibilities:

Meal Preparation & Execution Execute a pre-set menu with consistency, ensuring meals are prepared on time for scheduled breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks. Prepare meals that are well-balanced and appealing. Kitchen Operations Management Supervise and manage kitchen staff. Work in partnership with the Kitchen Manager to oversee daily kitchen logistics and maintain an efficient workflow. Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant kitchen in accordance with health and safety regulations. Ensure compliance with local and state health department regulations at all times.

Qualifications:

3-5+ years of professional cooking experience in a high-volume setting (camp, school, institutional, or catering experience preferred). Previous leadership experience as a Head Chef, Executive Chef, or Kitchen Manager. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to work long hours in a fast-paced environment. ServSafe Certification (or equivalent) required. Must pass background check and comply with camp safety and conduct standards.

Compensation:

Starting at $1500 a week (commensurate with experience) Room and board included Laundry service and access to camp facilities
