Essential Job Functions:

Provides culinary instruction pursuant to established educational institution standards.
Maintains Student records for course work.
Maintains a student Competency Transcript.
Collaborates with Director Food Service Operations on records and best practices for instruction.
Provides oversight of the inventory and ordering of food.
Assures the maintenance and cleanliness of the dining room equipment and facilities in conjunction with housekeeping staff.
Establishes food service policy and procedure.
Works in cooperation with the registered dietician in the planning of menus.
Responsible for food preparation in conjunction with those clients assigned to the kitchen operation.
Assures meals and snacks are provided in a timely manner.
Resolves client complaints regarding food service concerns.
Meets all requirements of infection control as required by the Department of Health
Assure all safety standards are followed.
Maintains copies of supplies and purchase requisitions.
Schedules the delivery of fresh food and supplies and assure the quality of food service deliveries.
Other related food service tasks as required.

Qualification Requirements:

Experience:

Associates degree in food service management OR 6 years of experience in food preparation in a commercial setting. Manager Food Safety Certification as required by the Department of Health. ACF Certification required within one year of employment.

Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities:

Must have initiative, self-discipline, and be a strong leader.
Good communication skills for problem solving with suppliers, employees and clients.
Must be able to fill in for absent workers on short notice.
Ability to exhibit patience when interacting with clients with behavioral health issues.
Knowledge of commercial kitchen operation including equipment.
Ability to work in a stressful environment at times especially around meal times.

Necessary Special Requirements:

Possession of a valid Florida driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and proof of personal automobile insurance if required to drive an SMA vehicle and/or use a personal vehicle for SMA business. Complete State of Florida mandatory background screening prior to start of employment. Complete SMA required training during the first six (6) months of employment and updated if required.

Physical:

Mobility and ability to bend and reach during an 8-12 hour day. Able to lift minimum 50 pounds. Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to evaluate, intervene, treat, and record client health care needs. Fine motor skills for legible and accurate charting, daily correspondence and presentation, either manually or orally. Work endurance ability to work 8-12 hour shifts with a meal break, as possible. Routine 8-12 hour shifts. Hours and days off may vary. Extra hours may be required. Work assignment locations may vary.
