Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled, adaptable, and dedicated Private Chef to manage all culinary aspects for a private family and their guests on a prestigious estate. This role demands excellence in meal planning, preparation, and kitchen management, as well as seamless collaboration with other estate staff. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for creating exceptional dining experiences, a strong understanding of dietary needs, and a commitment to the highest standards of food safety and hygiene.

Key Responsibilities:
Food and Beverage Management:

Collaborate with the Executive Assistant, Greenhouse Manager, and Livestock Manager to plan daily meals, special dinners, and event catering. Develop diverse menus tailored to the Principals’ dietary preferences, utilizing fresh, estate-sourced produce and livestock. Prepare and cook meals to the highest culinary standards for the family, guests, and during events. Cater for private flights and travel, ensuring timely preparation and exceptional food quality.

Kitchen Management & Inventory:

Maintain an impeccably clean, organized, and well-equipped kitchen. Conduct regular inventory checks of kitchen and pantry items, ensuring freshness and availability. Manage procurement and restocking of groceries, beverages, and basic necessities, adhering to quality standards.

Collaboration and Teamwork:

Coordinate seamlessly with the Butler and Executive Assistant for meal service and event planning. Engage with the Greenhouse Manager and Livestock Manager for ingredient selection. Lead the kitchen team during events, overseeing preparation, presentation, and service. Collaborate with the event team to align culinary offerings with event themes.

Administrative & Record Keeping:

Maintain detailed records of recipes, menu changes, and guest preferences. Document and adjust menus based on feedback. Develop relationships with vendors for high-quality ingredient provision.

Guest Care and Hospitality:

Accommodate special dietary needs and restrictions for Principals and guests, innovating within constraints. Tailor meal presentations and settings to enhance dining experiences for private events and family occasions.

Health and Safety:

Ensure all food preparation areas and processes strictly comply with health and safety regulations. Maintain current certification and training in food safety and handling. Be prepared to manage kitchen emergencies or food-related issues effectively. Pertaining to all Estate Staff (General Responsibilities): This role requires flexibility and adaptability to meet evolving needs. All estate staff may be required to assist with tasks beyond core responsibilities to ensure smooth operation and security, including: Adhering to beginning and end-of-day procedures. Assisting with household tasks (e.g., errands, maintenance, special projects). Providing support during events (e.g., transportation logistics, security arrangements). Participating in emergency response and crisis management. Supporting other team members and providing backup as needed. Adapting to special requests or unexpected changes in plans.

Qualifications:

Proven experience in menu development and execution for discerning clients. In-depth knowledge of various cuisines and dietary requirements. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team. Discretion and professionalism are paramount. Valid food safety and handling certifications. Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.
