Located in the heart of Beach Haven on Long Beach Island, The Marlin Bar and Restaurant is where fine dining meets the vibrant nightlife the Jersey Shore is famous for. Known for our elevated cuisine, lively bar scene, and daily entertainment, The Marlin is the ultimate summer destination for both locals and vacationers. We’re open 7 days a week for dinner starting at 3PM, with a popular happy hour at the bar from 3-6PM. Our team is passionate about hospitality, food, and creating memorable experiences.
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and creative Chef to lead our kitchen team and elevate our food offerings. The ideal candidate is a hands-on culinary professional with a strong background in high-volume, high-quality kitchens and a passion for seasonal, locally-inspired dishes. You’ll work closely with ownership and front-of-house management to deliver a top-tier dining experience that complements our vibrant bar and nightlife.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee all kitchen operations, including food prep, line management, inventory, and cleanliness Create and update seasonal menus that reflect The Marlin’s coastal style and customer preferences Maintain the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and sanitation Manage and train kitchen staff to ensure consistency, efficiency, and professionalism Collaborate with management on food costs, sourcing, and vendor relationships Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations Assist with event menus and special promotions Adapt quickly to the fast-paced summer season, managing high volumes with grace
Qualifications:
Minimum 3-5 years experience as a Head Chef or Sous Chef in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen Culinary degree or equivalent professional training preferred Strong leadership and communication skills Excellent organizational and time management abilities Passion for coastal cuisine and using fresh, local ingredients Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
