Role:

A private residence in Oyster Bay is seeking a professionally trained, team-oriented Private Chef with at least 10 years of combined experience in both restaurant and private household settings. This live-in role requires culinary excellence, adaptability, and the ability to collaborate within an established household team. No travel is required. The ideal candidate is organized, confident in managing two kitchens, and experienced in both everyday family cooking and large-scale event support.

Responsibilities:

Prepare lunch 3 days per week for 2 principals and 3 staff members
Cook dinner 3-4 evenings per week for 2-3 people
Plan and execute buffet-style or formal dinners for major holidays (e.g., Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter) with the support of additional staff
Assist with 1-2 cocktail parties per year (approx. 60 guests; event staff provided)
Manage pantry, fridge, and freezer inventory across two kitchens
Source groceries and maintain kitchen supplies
Maintain a clean, organized, and professional kitchen environment
Create meals inspired by American, French, and Italian cuisines (additional cuisines welcome)
Work collaboratively with household staff to support smooth daily operations
Oversee restocking and equipment upkeep for the kitchen
Support hosting needs for large gatherings or special events

Qualifications:

Minimum 10 years of combined experience in private household and restaurant kitchens
Professional culinary training
Strong organizational skills and commitment to kitchen cleanliness and order
Valid U.S. driver’s license and legal documentation (background check and NDA required)
Ability to work weekends and holidays as needed
Friendly, team-oriented demeanor and comfort around dogs
