The ideal candidate will have a deep appreciation for Japanese cuisine and a commitment to delivering high-quality dishes in a fast-paced restaurant environment. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for preparing and presenting sushi and other Japanese dishes, ensuring that all food safety standards are met while providing an exceptional dining experience for our guests. Current average tips earned around $500/week on top of weekly salary. 5 day work week. Responsibilities Prepare and assemble sushi rolls, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes with precision and creativity. Maintain high standards of food safety and sanitation in the kitchen at all times. Utilize culinary skills, including knife techniques, to create visually appealing presentations. Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely service and efficient kitchen operations. Assist in menu development by suggesting new sushi items or seasonal offerings. Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, placing orders as necessary to maintain stock. Train and mentor junior kitchen staff in sushi preparation techniques and food safety practices. Ensure that the kitchen area is clean, organized, and compliant with health regulations. Experience Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within a fine dining or high-volume restaurant setting. Strong culinary skills with a focus on Japanese cuisine, particularly sushi preparation. Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in the kitchen environment. Experience working in catering or dietary departments is a plus. Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
