$110,000•$140,000 per year +

A private household based on Park Avenue in New York City is seeking a full-time, experienced Private Cook to prepare high-quality, homestyle Indian vegetarian cuisine for a family of four. The family consists of Mr. and Mrs. and their two children, aged 21 and 18, all of whom follow the same vegetarian diet and enjoy fresh, homecooked South East Asian meals daily. This is a full-time, salaried role with benefits. The position is ideal for a candidate who is not restaurant-oriented, but rather experienced in preparing simple, wholesome, and flavorful vegetarian meals in a private home setting. Candidates from Nepal are especially encouraged to apply, as familiarity with this style of cooking is preferred and closely aligns with the family’s tastes.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare 1-2 fresh, homestyle Indian vegetarian meals daily (typically lunch and dinner) Collaborate with the family to plan weekly menus that reflect their preferences and seasonal availability Shop for fresh ingredients and manage kitchen and pantry inventory Ensure a clean and organized kitchen at all times, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards Label and store meals when necessary for later consumption Run occasional errands when the family is traveling or not in residence Drive to local markets and vendors as needed (must have valid driver’s license)
Qualifications:
Proven experience preparing authentic Indian vegetarian meals, ideally with a South East Asian or Nepalese culinary background Experience working in private households strongly preferred Strong grasp of nutrition, healthy cooking, and dietary considerations Organized, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal supervision Discreet, respectful, and professional at all times Must have a valid driver’s license Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

A cooking trial will be required as part of the selection process This is a full-time salaried role with benefits Candidates should provide a food portfolio and 1-2 sample menus with their application Must understand food profiles. The family are not looking for Americanized/Indian cooking.
