Job Description
Sushi Chef Sushi Maru Express 469 6th Avenue, New York, NY 10011 As a Sushi Chef for an upcoming upscale casual Ramen/Sushi Restaurant located in West Village, NYC, you will be essential in delivering outstanding customer service and enhancing the dining experience for our patrons. Reporting to the restaurant manager, you will utilize your core skills in making sushi and food safety to efficiently take orders and serve food. With a focus on guest satisfaction and sanitation, you will contribute significantly to our team’s success in the food industry. Join us and be a vital part of our commitment to excellence.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and execute nigiri, sashimi, makis, and some services to the highest standard Expertly handle and cut fish Ensure the quality and freshness of ingredients used in sushi preparation Handle and store food safely to prevent contamination and ensure food safety Maintain excellent hygiene and organization throughout the shift Work efficiently and respectfully with the team in a fast-paced, focused environment Assist with inventory management, including ordering and stocking ingredients Uphold food safety and DOH compliance at all times
Requirements:
Must be able to follow all restaurant standards and guidelines 2+ Years of sushi chef experience Decent knife skills Must be able to work flexible schedules Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment Strong organization and communication skills required Must be able to effectively communicate in English Must be able to physically able to lift up to 50lbs Must be able to stand for long period of time Passion for quality, consistency, and craftsmanship Positive attitude, punctuality, and a team-first mindset Willingness to learn and grow within a professional kitchen •Pay will be discussed based on skills/experiences
