Chef/Line Cook Mel’s at 22 22 Chestnut Street, Cooperstown, NY 13326 Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Line Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for cooking and a strong understanding of food safety and handling practices. As a Line Cook, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality dishes, ensuring that all food is prepared in accordance with our standards, and contributing to a positive dining experience for our guests. This role requires teamwork, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and presentation standards. Supervise kitchen staff during meal preparation and service to ensure quality and efficiency. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including proper food storage. Assist in menu planning and development, providing input on seasonal offerings. Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and proper food handling techniques. Collaborate with the dietary department to accommodate special dietary needs or restrictions. Participate in banquet preparations as needed, ensuring timely service during events. Monitor inventory levels of food supplies and communicate needs to management. Maintain a positive working relationship with all kitchen staff and front-of-house team members. Requirements Proven experience as a cook in the food industry; experience in food service management is a plus. Strong knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in food handling. Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high-quality standards. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in meal preparation. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being able to take initiative when necessary. Familiarity with menu planning and dietary considerations is advantageous. Previous bartending experience is beneficial but not required. Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends as needed.
