Event Chef Holder Hospitality Consulting 560 York Avenue, Pawtucket, RI 02861 Position Summary We are seeking a skilled and dependable Event Chef to lead food production and execution at a wide variety of catered events. The Event Chef is responsible for preparing, transporting, and serving food at off-site venues while maintaining the highest standards of quality, cleanliness, and professionalism. This is a hands-on role suited for a chef who thrives in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment and understands the unique demands of catering. Key Responsibilities Pre-Event Prep Execute batch prep and cook schedules based on event menus and headcounts (often 50-500+ guests) Ensure all food is prepared according to B&M standards and health regulations Load and transport food, equipment, and supplies to event sites On-Site Execution Set up field kitchens or workstations at off-site venues with limited infrastructure Prepare, cook, and plate items in accordance with event timeline and service format (buffet, plated, stations, etc.) Maintain food quality and temperature throughout service Lead a small team of event cooks, utility staff, or servers as needed Customer & Client Engagement Represent B&M Catering with professionalism and hospitality at every event Engage with clients and guests to ensure satisfaction and handle on-site concerns promptly Post-Event Wrap Ensure proper breakdown, cleaning, and transport of equipment and leftovers Report event feedback and inventory usage to kitchen and operations teams Qualifications 3+ years culinary experience, preferably in high-volume catering, banquets, or mobile kitchens Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (CDL not required but a plus) Strong knowledge of food safety practices and ServSafe certification (or willingness to obtain) Ability to lift 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods Flexible schedule with evening, weekend, and some holiday availability Calm under pressure, able to troubleshoot on the fly, and deliver results in non-traditional kitchen environments Preferred Traits Prior experience leading off-site foodservice or event production teams Background in barbecue, seafood, or large-format cooking Familiarity with Rhode Island/New England regional cuisine and event expectations Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Comfortable working in a variety of weather and venue conditions What We Offer Competitive hourly pay starting at $25-$35/hr depending on experience and event type Opportunities for overtime during peak season (summer months) A dynamic, family-style team that values accountability and camaraderie Advancement potential into kitchen management or operations roles Seasonal flexibility and work/life balance in off-season months
