Job Summary:

Thurston Southern is seeking an Chef de Cuisine for a well established brunch restaurant in Charleston! The Chef will be responsible for overseeing the preparation of meals in accordance with the restaurant’s menu and standards. They will ensure efficient kitchen operations, uphold food safety regulations, and maintain an organized, clean work environment. The ideal candidate will be skilled in various cooking techniques, bring creative flair to menu development, and demonstrate leadership in a fast paced kitchen environment.

Requirements:

2+ years as a chef or in a similar culinary role in a fast-paced environment. Experience working a high volume expo window and managing food production for line cooks In-depth knowledge of cooking techniques, food safety standards, and kitchen equipment. Clear driving record! This Sous Chef will operate company vehicle at times. Experience leading kitchen staff Creativity in developing new recipes and improving existing ones. Excellent time-management and multitasking abilities.

Responsibilities:
Food Preparation & Cooking:

Prepare and expo high-quality meals based on the restaurant’s menu, ensuring consistency in taste, presentation, and portion control.

Kitchen Management:

Oversee kitchen staff in preparing and serving food, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently, on time, and with the highest standards..

Inventory Management:

Monitor stock levels of ingredients and supplies, and coordinate with suppliers to order necessary items. Manage inventory to minimize waste and optimize kitchen resources.

Staff Training & Supervision:

Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, providing guidance on cooking techniques, safety protocols, and operational procedures. Delegate tasks and manage workloads efficiently.

Menu Creation:

Collaborate with the head chef or culinary team to create new menu items, seasonal dishes, and specials that align with the restaurant’s concept and customer preferences.
