COMPANY DESCRIPTION
We’re a scratch-cooked lunch cafe, smoothie bar, and real food grocery based in Florence, South Carolina. At the heart of our business is a simple, stubborn belief: food should be real, nourishing, and made with integrity every single day. SC Real Foods isn’t just a name. It’s a declaration. We’re tired of the sleight-of-hand and the shortcuts that dominate the food industry. Our shelves, freezers, and fridges are stocked with real ingredients and house-made foods that we would (and do) feed our own families. From scratch-made soups and casseroles to no-filler smoothies and carefully sourced pantry staples, everything we offer is built on the idea that people deserve better than ultra-processed, misleading, industrial food. Peck Away Cafe is our in-house lunch counter, open weekdays for made-to-order meals. We use higher-quality ingredients, mix our own dressings, build flavor from the ground up, and don’t cut corners to save time. We’re actively reducing seed oils across all products and avoid mystery ingredients and corporate foodservice shortcuts. Just good food, made with care. We understand the reality of modern life. Most people don’t have the time or bandwidth to cook like they used to. Work, family, and life move fast, and dinner can’t always be slow. That’s where we come in. We’re here to offer a better alternative to fast food: meals that are honest, accessible, and ready when you are. Our goal is to make real food easy, not elitist. We believe that nourishing food should be available to everyone. That convenience doesn’t have to come at the cost of quality. And that the food you grab in a hurry should still be food you feel good about eating. Our full line of Ready-Made Foods includes fresh and frozen soups, casseroles, grab-and-go meals, deli items, and entrees, crafted in-house. These aren’t leftovers or repurposed scraps. They’re thoughtfully developed, carefully prepared, and packaged for people who want real food without the prep. We serve customers across a wide spectrum. Some have been on the real food path for years. Others are just starting to ask questions. All are welcome. What they share is a desire for something better – something honest and handmade that doesn’t leave them wondering what they just ate. We see it as our job to meet them where they are, feed them well, and earn their trust. We love a good food trend, just not when it’s all hype and no substance. We spin the fun stuff our way: real ingredients, better methods, and nothing fake hiding behind the hype. We’re not plant-based evangelists or diet-pushers. We believe in nuance. In context. In listening to our customers and our community. We support local food producers, use grass-fed and pastured meats when possible, and focus on ingredients with traceable integrity. Our kitchen is run with both intention and humility. SC Real Foods is independently owned and operated by people who live in this community, eat this food, and work alongside the team every day. We’re not backed by venture capital, franchised, or corporate in any way. Our team is small, scrappy, and committed. Everyone here matters, and everyone is expected to pull their weight. We’re looking for team members who don’t just want a job, but want to be part of something honest, steady, and meaningful. We also love this place – our town, our customers, and our crew. We believe that food should nourish us in every sense of the word. That includes not just what we eat, but how we work, how we collaborate, and how we care for the people around us. The kitchen can be flexible for the right candidate, and we’re open to shaping schedules that work for both the role and the human behind it. We know the food industry can be exhausting. We do things differently. There’s room here for people who want to work hard without sacrificing their values or burning out. No theatrics, no perfectionism. Just good work, done well. If you care about how food is made, how people are treated, and what ends up on someone’s plate… we might be your people.
