POSITION SUMMARY

This is considered a line cookposition, this position demands a higher skill set, heightenedsense of time management, and organizational skills. This person isresponsible for the bulk of food production including but notlimited to soups, stocks, sauces, main dishes, starches, andvegetables. A Cook II should be familiar and able to execute the 7methods of cooking, they should have reviewed their station, reviewany lists including but not limited to opening, closing and preplist. They know what is expected form them each day while on thatstation, they should know how to read and follow a recipe, theyshould be able to execute basic soups, stocks, and sauces, Theyshould have acquired the skills on each of the cooking stationslisted in the Pathway, and they should have a Chef sign off ontheir refined knife cuts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Working in acollaborative manner with the front and back of the house teammembers, ensuring compliance with Senior LivingCommunities’/Wellmore standards for quality, presentation andportion control are met. Adhere to all proper handling, HACCP,labeling, and storage protocols for all foods and ensure compliancewith all relevant food service regulations. Follow all safetyprotocols and consistently practice a culture of safety. Maintaindocumentation of temperature charts and records. Maintain an opencommunication and professional working relationship with allcommunity departments and Home Office support team to ensureresidents remain happy and living the Weller Life. Activelyparticipate in planning and production meetings with the team.

Attend and actively participate in required in-service training andeducation programs. Other duties as assigned and directed by theExecutive Chef or Director of Dining Services.

Full Physical Demands, Work Environment, andExpected Hours of Work:

The physical demands described here arerepresentative of those that must be met by an employee tosuccessfully perform the essential functions of this job. Capableof standing, maneuvering independently and safety around work area.

Capable of standing on a tile floor for an eight-hour shift.

Ability to see and hear, or to use prosthetics that will enablethese senses to function adequately to assure that positionrequirements can be fully. Sufficient manual dexterity to operate afire extinguisher and to manipulate kitchen equipment, includingslicer, chopper, processor, knives, etc. An individual in thisposition will be required to lift or carry weight up to 50 lbs.

Must be free of diseases that can be transmitted in the performanceof job responsibilities during the stage of communicability unlessthe employee can be given duties that minimize the likelihood oftransmission. May be exposed to minimal to moderate noise andexposure to blood and/or body fluids. May experience traumaticsituations including psychiatric and deceased residents. Subject tomoderate physical and emotional stress associated with foodservice. Performance of job tasks will involve exposure to cleaningchemicals, heat and cold.

TRAVEL:

No travel is expected, althoughoccasional travel may be required for training sessions, continuingeducation opportunities, emergency situations, and other companyfunctions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

1-2 years’experience in a similar position desired. Culinary training a plus.
