We are currently hiring a Cook II to join our team!

JOB DESCRIPTION

The primary purpose of this position is to prepare foods according to recipes and production tallies and in accordance with all food safety and sanitation regulations. This position works closely with the Executive Chef, as part of a team to provide nutritionally adequate meals to Residents and Patients of the facility.

  • Possesses knowledge of all Dining Services operations policies and procedures.
  • Prepares menu items for Resident meals using production sheets and recipes to maintain optimal nutritional adequacy.
  • Plates food including proper portion size and appealing presentation.
  • Follows all HACCP guidelines (which include sanitation and food safety).
  • Uses cooking equipment properly (stove, steamer, grill, blender, buffalo chopper, floor mixer, soup kettles, brazier, etc)
  • Knowledge of basic cooking terms. (steam, bake, fry, broil, sauté)
  • Must have knowledge of basic cooking measurements (cup, quart, oz, teaspoon, tablespoon etc.)
  • Calibrates and uses a food thermometer correctly.
  • Takes the temperature of foods and records the temperature on the proper HACCP form.
  • Answers the phone and provides resident requests in a timely manner.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic diets including restrictions and consistency alterations.
  • Responsible for employee injury prevention, follows safety rules, and addresses safety issues.
  • Follows Closing and/or opening shift Checklist.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Eligible applicants will have the following:

  • Minimum of 3 years cooking experience
  • Ability to read & speak English and have basic math skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including Holidays and Weekends
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
