RESPONSIBILITIES

The Cook will assist in the preparation and service of meals and the maintenance of a clean kitchen at all times.

Responsibilities include:

portioning and serving meals, and assigning/supervising cleaning tasks in the absence of the Food Services Supervisor, cooking and cleaning. Qualified applicants must have experience in cooking and a demonstrated ability to handle daily administration of food services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS A

minimum of two years’ experience cooking in a restaurant or similar environment is required. Familiarity with NYS and ACA regulations regarding Food Service is a plus. Sanitation & Food Handler’s certificates preferred; if the applicant does not possess these certifications, the ability to obtain them within the first year of employment is required. Physical/Mental Requirements (ADA Compliance): In order to perform the essential duties of the job, the incumbent must be able to speak, hear and see. Must have the ability to work within a time schedule to meet the needs of mealtime. Considerable physical activity. Will require handling of objects (food and catering items) that can weigh up to 50 lbs., including but not necessarily limited to dishes, trays, pots, etc. Will require the ability to lift, kneel, lean, crouch, sit, walk and stand for extended periods. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks associated with working in a commercial kitchen and requires following basic safety precautions. Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements possibly found in a commercial kitchen, such as but not necessarily limited to extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises The rate for this role is $20.00 to $21.00 per hour based on experience. This is a full time benefit eligible position.
