Our small senior living community in southern Chester County, Pennsylvania is seeking a full-time Cook to work 5 days/week (40 hours/week), 10:30am – 6:30pm, including every other weekend. EOE Responsibilities:

• Prepare and/or direct the preparation of the food to be served to our residents, insuring adequate amounts of food are prepared and that food has positive presentation and visual appeal
• Prepare meals following standardized recipes to ensure proper quality, temperature and appearance as well as meeting timelines of service
• Follows department standards regarding sanitation, personal hygiene, safety precautions and Department of Human Services/Department of Health regulations in regard to food preparation, storage and service.
• Ensure the cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen area and equipment
• Follow procedures for special diets
• Monitors labeling and dating of all food and supplies
• Work with the Director of Dining Services and Kitchen Manager to establish specific goals for the department
• Determine work procedures and expedite work flow
• Ensure department compliance with all operating policies and practices
• Supervise assigned personnel

Requirements:

• One year experience as a cook or in a related food service position, preferably in a long-term care or other health care environment
• Proficient interpersonal relations and communication skills
• Ability to take direction
• Ability to follow recipes and measure food items
• Knowledge of nutrition and food services
• Ability to lift items weighing 50 lbs
• Supervisory skills sufficient to manage a small group of employees
