Punxsutawney Christian School is seeking a responsible and organized

• Head Cook
• to manage daily cafeteria operations, including preparing and serving meals, overseeing student conduct during mealtimes, and handling administrative tasks such as menu planning, food ordering, and financial record-keeping.

The ideal candidate has strong time-management skills, enjoys working with children, and is committed to creating a welcoming and efficient meal service environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Open the cafeteria and supervise student breakfast each morning.
• Prepare and cook daily lunch meals in accordance with school and nutritional guidelines.
• Serve lunch to students and staff in a timely, organized manner.
• Monitor and maintain a calm, respectful cafeteria environment by enforcing student behavior expectations.
• Dismiss classes according to their designated lunch times.
• Track student breakfast and lunch tickets daily for accurate meal counts.
• Clean kitchen and dining area after meals, including washing dishes and taking out trash.
• Place weekly/monthly food orders and restock pantry and refrigeration upon delivery.
• Create and distribute monthly menus for students and staff.
• Maintain accurate records of lunch payments and food expenses.
• Manage the school cafeteria checkbook, making deposits and tracking expenses.
• Reconcile and balance the checkbook on a monthly basis.
• Comply with all local health and food safety regulations.
• Maintain kitchen equipment and report any issues as needed.

Qualifications:

• Prior cooking or food service experience preferred, especially in a school or child-focused environment but not required.
• Basic financial record-keeping experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs., stand for extended periods, and work in a fast-paced kitchen setting.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Dependable, team-oriented, and able to interact positively with students and staff.
