The Cook at Rehab at Shannondell will be responsible for preparing high-quality meals for residents in a health-focused, rehabilitation setting. This role requires attention to nutritional needs, dietary restrictions, and special requests of residents, providing both delicious and health-conscious meals. The ideal candidate is dedicated, detail-oriented, and has a passion for creating nutritious, flavorful dishes in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare meals according to established recipes, menus, and dietary requirements for residents. Ensure all meals are prepared and served in a timely manner with high standards of quality and presentation. Collaborate with the dietary team to plan and update menus based on resident preferences, dietary needs, and seasonal ingredients. Follow safety and sanitation protocols in compliance with health department regulations. Maintain a clean and organized kitchen area, including equipment and utensils, and oversee the restocking of ingredients and supplies. Assist with inventory management, ordering supplies as needed to maintain sufficient stock levels. Communicate effectively with team members, including dietary aides and other cooks, to ensure smooth meal service. Address any special dietary requests or resident concerns related to meals. Provide training and guidance to new kitchen staff, if needed.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; culinary training or certification is a plus. Proven experience as a cook, preferably in a healthcare, rehab, or long-term care setting. Knowledge of dietary restrictions, modified textures, and special dietary requirements (low-sodium, diabetic, etc.). Familiarity with food safety standards and regulations. Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 30 pounds. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with some repetitive tasks.
