Position responsibilities include: Preparing nutritional and appetizing meals including modified consistency and therapeutic diets as prescribed by the attending physician. Handling and preparing food in accordance with federal, state and local regulations. Communicating effectively and professionally with residents, their families, dietary co-workers as well as other department staff. Supervising staff in the absence of the Dietary Director and/or Assistant Director; scheduling and ensuring the meal and break schedule is followed as well as providing staff guidance about completing their assignments according to facility policies, procedures and regulations. Follows safety precautions to ensure residents and staff remain safe from hazards. Properly cares for dietary equipment and helps to ensure the department environment is clean and ha Being flexible because this position may require rotating shifts, holidays, weekends and other duties as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned.

Applicant qualifications must include:

2 or more years of work experience as a Cook in a skilled healthcare facility; preferably in a long term care facility. Proven skills that include communication, a drive for good results, problem solving and conflict management.
