Required Years of Experience 3 years Job Details Vern’s is a neighborhood restaurant in downtown Charleston. We are seeking a motivated Line Cook with an in-depth knowledge of food and a great attitude. Must possess a genuine curiosity for the craft of cooking. Vern’s is an independent restaurant founded on good times and community. Our vibe is upscale-casual, energetic, refined but unpretentious. Our menu is a mix of elevated, delicious, and innovative food – drawing inspiration from European and American cuisine. Our beverage program is highly curated with a focus on small producers using organic practices, reflecting the ethos of our food purveyors. Vern’s is a warm and intimate bistro-style space with upbeat and attentive service. We are aiming to become a timeless institution in the Charleston culinary community.
LINE COOK
Responsibilities will include: Perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy.
Prioritize, organize, delegate work and follow through with assigned tasks.
Ability to be a clear thinker, remain calm and resolve problems using sound judgment.
Work well under pressure of meeting production schedules and timelines of service.
Ability to work well with others, promote a team environment, and contribute to the growth and success of the team.
Ability to work multiple stations in the kitchen.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment; able to set up workstation fast and efficiently.
Follow recipes to the specifications of the Chef (ability to increase or decrease recipes as needed).
Possess and practice good knife skills.
Can season food properly according to standards.
Can assist with the design and execution of new dishes in accordance with Chef’s specifications.
Can properly follow all processes that are in place in the restaurant.
Can communicate with all coworkers professionally and effectively
Can write and follow a thorough prep list.
Properly label, date, and rotate all products on station and in the walk in cooler.
Ability to work in a fast paced, sometimes intense work environment
