Description As a relief cook, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality, nutritious meals to our residents. You will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and serving food while maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment. Your role will directly contribute to the well-being and satisfaction of our residents, ensuring they receive delicious and healthy meals in a comfortable dining setting.
Requirements Key Responsibilities:
Meal Preparation:
Assist in the preparation of ingredients for daily meals, following standardized recipes and portion control guidelines. Cook and bake a variety of foods, such as meats, vegetables, and desserts, ensuring they meet our quality and presentation standards. Utilize cooking equipment, including ovens, stovetops, grills, and steamers, safely and efficiently.
Food Service:
Serve meals to residents and guests, ensuring a friendly and welcoming dining experience. Maintain food temperature, portion sizes, and presentation throughout the service.
Kitchen Organization:
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, including washing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment. Ensure the proper storage and labeling of food items, while adhering to food safety and sanitation standards. Assist in inventory management by keeping track of food supplies and informing the supervisor when items need to be reordered.
Compliance and Safety:
Adhere to all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation guidelines to maintain a safe working environment. Follow dietary restrictions and special dietary requests, ensuring that residents’ dietary needs are met.
Communication and Teamwork:
Collaborate with other kitchen staff and dietary team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations. Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and residents to address any concerns or special requests.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in food service, preferably in a healthcare or senior living setting. Knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and food safety standards. Ability to follow recipes, portion control, and dietary restrictions. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends. Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, and work in a fast-paced environment
