The ideal candidate will assist in the preparation of high-quality meals in a fast-paced kitchen environment. This role is essential for ensuring that our food service operations run smoothly, particularly within our dietary department and catering services. The Prep Cook will work closely with chefs and kitchen staff to maintain the highest standards of food handling and meal preparation. Duties Assist in the preparation of ingredients for daily meal service, including washing, chopping, and measuring food items. Follow recipes and portion control guidelines to ensure consistency and quality in meal preparation. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen workspace, including proper storage of food items. Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, adhering to all food safety regulations. Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely service during peak hours. Support the culinary team in catering events by preparing dishes as needed. Assist with inventory management by tracking supplies and notifying supervisors of low stock levels. Qualifications Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment is preferred; experience in a dietary department or restaurant setting is a plus. Knowledge of meal preparation techniques and food handling safety practices is essential. Strong organizational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure. Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude are required. A passion for culinary arts and a willingness to learn new cooking techniques is highly valued.
