College Grove, TN_ Description The Grove, located just outside Nashville and minutes from historic Franklin, is a 1,100-acre gated community offering a distinctive private club lifestyle dedicated to providing exceptional member services and the most comprehensive amenity and recreational offerings in the region. We are currently seeking an accomplished, self-motivated, and detail-oriented cooking professional to join the team. This position will be responsible for assisting the Sous Chef with the working requirements of the day-to-day operations while maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and sanitation in designated work areas. Essential Functions Prepares mise-en-place in advance of cooking process: reviews recipes; checks and measures necessary ingredients; washes, chops, and places ingredients in individual bowls/containers; and retrieves and prepares all necessary equipment that is needed for use. Picks up, inspects, handles, and stores food according to the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) program guidelines. Maintains inventory of assigned station for daily requisitions and provides par levels to the Sous Chef. Performs daily inspections and cleans refrigerators, trolleys, utensils, and kitchen equipment. Makes proper use of leftover food items to minimize wastage under the guidance of the Sous Chef. Responds professionally and efficiently to members’ questions, requests, problems, and/or complaints. Ensures overall knowledge of the club operations is up-to-date; provides proactive assistance to customers when appropriate. Maintains compliance with applicable health, safety, food handling, and hygiene codes and standards. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Skills and Experience:
Minimum of three years of relevant food & beverage experience in high-quality, high-volume establishments is preferred. High school diploma or GED Culinary degree (Associate or Bachelor) or vocational school coursework in kitchen basics such as food safety preferred. Equivalent training/experience will be considered in lieu of degree. Familiarity with food service concepts, practices, and processes (i.e., food handling techniques, preparation, and cooking procedures). Ability to communicate effectively; establish and maintain healthy working relationships with staff. Must be able to work in a self-motivated environment with little supervision. Requires standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods of time. Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. Ability to maintain personal hygiene.
