POSITION SUMMARY
: Utility Aidesupports the dining functions of a campus by providing variousservices in the areas of food preparation, dishwashing, sanitation,and the receiving and storage of supplies under the supervision ofthe Executive Chef / Director of Dining Services.
ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS
:
- Assists the Executive Chef / Directory of DietaryServices with the calculation of food and supply inventory.
- Attends to kitchen spills quickly and keeps the floor and surfaceareas clean and free of debris.
- Assists in preparation of meals.
Manages portion control and proper diet requirements (includingspecial diets).
- Follows sanitation programs/schedules includingdaily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedules and sanitationinspections.
- Keeps food items from possible contamination andspoilage with proper covers, dating/labeling, storage and bykeeping food at safe temperatures.
- Assists with the receiving,inspection and storage of supplies.
- Removes trash from allkitchen areas and monitors all garbage cans and garbage sitesrelated to dietary services.
- Washes, scrubs and dries all dishes,utensils, beverage containers, beverage, food carts, and cookingpots, containers and pans.
- Manages dishwashing stations andensures that all chemicals register correctly following approvedState and company guidelines.
- Performs preventive maintenance andequipment checks on all dishwashing equipment in the kitchen area.
- Transports dishes back to the main kitchen for cleaning.
- Asassigned, sets up and breaks down member/resident events.

Full Physical Demands, Work Environment, andExpected Hours of Work:
The physical demands described here arerepresentative of those that must be met by an employee tosuccessfully perform the essential functions of this job. The TeamMember is often required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger,handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands andarms, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, taste and/orsmell. An individual in this position will be required to lift orcarry weight up to 50 lbs. Must be free of diseases that can betransmitted in the performance of job responsibilities during thestage of communicability unless the Team Member can be given dutiesthat minimize the likelihood of transmission. The Team Member maybe exposed to minimal to moderate noise and exposure to bloodand/or body fluids. Also may experience traumatic situationsincluding psychiatric and deceased residents.
TRAVEL:
No travel isexpected although occasional travel may be required for trainingsessions, continuing education opportunities, emergency situations,and other company functions.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High school graduation or GED required. 1-2 years’ experience in asimilar position desired.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESREQUIRED
Ability to read, write, speak and understand Englishfluently. Ability to meet or exceed the company’s attendance andpunctuality standards. Ability to use miscellaneous software andoffice equipment. Ability to understand and follow directions asgiven. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
