FT/PT Dishwasher/Porter Company Overview:

Sawa Restaurant and Lounge is a Mediterranean-Asian fusion restaurant located in the main plaza of the Shops at Merrick Park. As the dishwasher and porter, your main responsibility will be the washing and sanitation of flatware and kitchenware for use in food service, and the maintenance of the dishwashing station. You will also be responsible for cleaning tasks in the establishment in accordance with a routine set by the chef and manager. The position is also a starting point for aspiring cooks and chefs/operators. The restaurant prioritizes internal promotions and in-house ladder training from entry point roles to leadership positions.

Responsibilities:

Dishwashing :

Ensuring clean properly sanitized flatware and kitchenware Sweeping and mopping : Maintaining clean floors in the building. Trash disposal : Removing trash and recycling materials. Stocking supplies : Reporting to the chef ordering needs ensuring adequate supplies of cleaning materials. Assisting the kitchen team in organizing inventory. Minor repairs : Addressing minor issues like replacing lightbulbs, fixing plugged drains, or general maintenance of the dishwashing machine Linen management : Transporting dirty linens and restocking shelves with clean ones.

Qualifications:

Full Time availability will be prioritized for hiring Excellent communication skills Previous restaurant experience a plus Certification in food handling and safety a plus

Salary Range:

13$-15$/hr dependent on experience and negotiation at point of hire
